From Chief P.K. Johnson
Millbrook Department
Today is still tough after all these years. 17 years ago today, the Millbrook Police Department lost Officer Jim Fezatte, who was involved in a single-vehicle traffic collision, while responding to assist another officer on the scene of a domestic disturbance during inclement weather.
I’ll never forget that phone call, responding to the scene that night and all the events in the hours and days that followed. Officer Fezatte was the first and only Millbrook police officer to perish in the line of duty.
He was a husband, father and friend to many in both the military and law enforcement communities, as well as the River Region. Jim reported for duty every day with a smile on his face, ready to work and willing to protect and serve his community, just as he did his country before retiring from the United States Armed Forces.
A memorial honoring Officer Fezatte and all Fallen Officers stands adjacent to the Millbrook Police Department and a plaque bearing his picture adorns the wall in our lobby, with his call sign, MB-16, Forever Retired.
For all that knew Officer Jim Fezatte, we’ll never forget the officer or the person that he was. MB-16, we remember and honor you today.
