From Michael Coleman
CEO Heart of Alabama Food Bank
Right now, 1 in 5 children in Alabama faces food insecurity. In some areas, that number is even higher. Many of these children rely on school meals, but on weekends and breaks, they may not have enough to eat. Hunger doesn’t just mean an empty stomach—it impacts their ability to focus, learn, and grow.

At the Heart of Alabama Food Bank, we see the impact of child hunger every day. We hear from teachers who keep snacks in their classrooms because students struggle to concentrate. We meet parents who skip meals so their kids can eat. We see the relief on a child’s face when they receive a backpack full of food for the weekend.
No child should have to worry about their next meal. You can help change that. Visit www.hafb.org to donate, volunteer, or learn more. Together, we can Feed Hope by Fighting Hunger in Alabama.
