From Chief P.K. Johnson
Millbrook Police Department
On Tuesday, March 11, 2025, officers with the Millbrook Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit were on patrol in the 3700 block of Martha Lane when they observed Carroll L. McCullers, a 37-year-old Millbrook resident, who was wanted on a total of 11 misdemeanor Failure to Appear warrants issued by the Millbrook Municipal Court, as well as multiple felony and misdemeanor warrants held by the Elmore County Sheriff’s Office. An officer attempted to make contact with McCullers, who immediately began to walk away from the officer, who ordered him to halt. McCullers responded by running into the adjacent residence.
Additional officers responded to the residence, setting a perimeter to ensure that McCullers was unable to escape by exiting the rear of the residence. After repeated attempts to get McCullers to exit the residence were unsuccessful, officers made entry, quickly taking McCullers into custody without incident or injury. Due to him fleeing from officers, attempting to avoid apprehension, McCullers was additionally charged with Attempting to Elude. McCullers was transported to the Millbrook Police Department for processing, later being transported to the Elmore County Jail, where he remains under a $3,352.00 bond.
It’s never a good idea to run from law enforcement. It only makes the individual’s situation worse. I’m reminded of famous football coaches quote from many years ago, when he was asked why his team didn’t pass the football more. His reply was both simple and priceless. “When you put the ball in the air, only three things can happen, and two of them aren’t good!” This alleged offender was wanted on multiple misdemeanor and felony warrants in at least two different jurisdictions in Elmore County. Our Street Crimes Unit, who are tasked to apprehend fugitives that are wanted by the Millbrook Police Department, were aware that this individual was frequenting this area and were attempting to locate him at the time he fled from our officers.
Unfortunately for this individual, like most that make the unwise decision to flee from law enforcement officers, he went to jail tired and now he has an additional case against him that he must answer for, which will most likely add to any jail time that he already faces. I want to commend our officers that handled this situation, as they facilitated the alleged offender’s apprehension and arrest quickly and professionally, without injury to either the offender or the officers themselves.
