Elmore County Schools Director of Administrative Services

The annual Elmore County District Spelling Bee showcased the top young spellers from local schools, and this year’s champion is Makenna Burton, an 8th-grade student at Wetumpka Middle School. Makenna demonstrated exceptional spelling skills and composure under pressure, earning the title after an intense competition.

The runner-up, Cooper Baxley from Southside Middle School, also put on an impressive performance, making it a thrilling contest until the final round.

A special thank you goes to the Elmore County Commissioners for their generous donation, which helped support this year’s event. Their contribution ensures that students continue to have opportunities to excel academically and compete in educational challenges like the Spelling Bee.
