The skies may have been gray for the 2025 Mardi Gras Revelers festival and parade Saturday, but the crowd was huge and enthusiastic. This year marks 20 years since the Millbrook Revelers organized, and the 19th parade.
The festivities kicked off at 9 a.m. with 100 vendors offering up food, goodies and more. They seemed to stay busy, the smell of food was wonderful, and rides and games for the kids were enjoyed with an overflowing park crowd throughout the day.
At 10 a.m. the annual Umbrella Stroll featuring Mardi Gras Queen Sheila Wood and King Walter Dodd began, with Revelers donned in their best Mardi Gras regalia parading along. Jazzy music flowed through the park as everyone danced their way around with onlookers.
At noon, the parade rolled with 100 floats from Mill Creek Park, north on to Main Street until it passed the judges stand in front of Village Green Park. Grand Marshal for the parade Rosa Lee Wade, who was one of the first people to help organize the Millbrook Revelers. She and her husband were the first Mardi Gras King and Queen 20 years ago. Sadly, Jim passed away several years ago, but Rosa Lee said he loved Mardi Gras, and she was honored to be this year’s grand marshal.
As for the float competition, First place went to Realty Connection and Second place went to James Hardie. Congratulations to the winners.
It was a consistent line of parade enthusiasts from start to finish with beads, Moon Pies and stuffed animals sailing through the air. Another year is in the books, but we thank the Millbrook Revelers, city staff, the vendors, the planners and the participants. Enjoy the photos in the gallery, thank you to our sponsors!
