ELMORE COUNTY IS ALSO UNDER A FLOOD ADVISORY UNTIL 3 AM
Flood Advisory for Coosa AL-Elmore AL
* WHAT…Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE…A portion of central Alabama, including the following counties, Coosa and Elmore.
* WHEN…Until 300 AM CST Thursday.
* IMPACTS…Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– At 856 PM CST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause small stream flooding.
– Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Rockford, Kellyton, Equality, Deatsville, Pentonville, Speed, Cottage Grove, Nixburg, Welona, Titus, Lyle, Highway 9 and Highway 22, Ten Cedar Estates, Weoka Mills, Crewsville, Jordan Lake, Dollar, Western Lake Martin, Higgins Ferry Park and Mitchell Lake.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
