From Leadership
Autauga County
In January, the Adult Leadership Class had the privilege of attending Education Day with the Autauga County School Systems, graciously hosted by Rebecca Thomas, the Communications Coordinator. We were able to experience the full scope of Autauga County Schools, traveling comfortably by bus between each destination.
The day began with a “State of the Schools” update from Lyman Woodfin, Superintendent, providing valuable insights into the district’s current standing. Next, we toured Pine Level Elementary School, guided by Principal Christian Harry, before speaking with Brock Dunn, Principal at the Autauga County Technology Center. He shared the importance of technical education and the role of vocational schools in shaping the future of our growing students.
We enjoyed lunch with the Child Nutrition Program team, learning about their operations and offerings. Afterward, we visited Prattville High School, where Principal Daniel Farris gave us a thorough campus tour.
In the afternoon, we explored the brand-new Prattville Kindergarten and received an overview of the state report card, along with early childhood success strategies from Holly McNidder, Elementary Curriculum & Instruction Director.
Our day concluded at the Chapter One Center, where we delved into education funding with Lesley Poe, CSFO, and staffing strategies for the county’s largest employer (the schools) with Julie Harrington, Personnel Director. It was an enlightening and inspiring day, offering a deeper understanding of the vital work being done to support and advance education in Autauga County.
