A Habitat for Humanity house on Howard Street in Prattville hosted a special dedication for completing their 50th home. This home now belongs to a qualified, deserving and hardworking family.

Elmore Autauga News spoke with Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Autauga and Chilton Counties, Daon Johnson to get a better understanding of their organization and the events of the day.  Johnson, when asked about the process and qualifications of owning a Habitat for Humanity home, stated that, “It is based on need, ability to pay and willingness to partner.” Johnson also mentioned that not only are homeowners required to work 125 hours on another home but to also work an additional 125 hours on their own home.

Homeowner Elisa Thomas was asked what she thought about the new home ownership. “I am blessed to have my new home, and we were waiting for this day to come. It finally came.”

Habitat for Humanity of Autauga and Chilton Counties mission is, “Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope.” This 50th dedication was a beautiful reminder and live display of their meaningful mission.
