The Edgewood Academy Volleyball Team and coach were invited guests at Monday’s Elmore County Commission meeting, to celebrate their recent accomplishments.

The Alabama Independent School Association (AISA) named the Edgewood Academy Wildcats 2024 AISA Class AA State Volleyball Champion. This is not new territory for the program.

Edgewood Academy has won the State Title eight of the last nine seasons. This is the sixth consecutive State Championship for the Wildcat Volleyball team.

Edgewood Academy won the most recent State Championship defeating Hooper Academy in three sets (25-19, 25-23 and 25-19.) The team finished the season 27-5.

The Commission passed a resolution honoring the team saying, “Every player on the Edgewood volleyball team contributed to this accomplishment. Allie Smith, Baylie Barrett and Avery White were named to the 2024 All-Tournament Team.”

The commission praised the student body, faculty, family and friends of Edgewood Academy who supported this team throughout the season.

“Now, therefore be it resolved by the Elmore County Commission, on behalf of the citizens of Elmore County, that we recognize and congratulate the 2024 Edgewood Academy Wildcats Varsity Volleyball Team, Coach Brad Starks and Head of School Susan Barner on their achievement of being the 2024 AISA Class AA State Volleyball Champions.”
