Old Autauga Historical Society (OAHS) will hold two introductory meetings in January 2025 regarding a USA250 Program scheduled for April 10-11, 2026. The meetings will be held at:
Autauga County Probate Office
Probate Courtroom
176 W 5th Street
Prattville, AL 36067
on the following dates:
Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at 1 PM
Thursday, January 23, 2025, at 1 PM
The meetings will discuss planning for a scheduled USA250 event to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Right now, this will include a two-day venue including 250 trifold displays depicting 250 years of the history of the United States (1776-2026). These meetings are in conjunction with other meetings we are holding with individual area schools.
The plan is to engage area school students in helping to assemble many of the displays. OAHS will be trying to provide the supplies needed for these projects. This includes receiving donations to purchase supplies. OAHS will need other volunteers from the community at large to help assemble other panels to meet the goal of 250. We will provide boards and supplies. You will just have to be crafty and design the boards.
Any and all interested residents of Autauga/Elmore Counties are invited to attend one of these two meetings. You do NOT have to be a member of OAHS to help with this special event. We invite area civic clubs to send Representatives as well to learn about this event. Perhaps your civic group will sponsor a particular display?
