From Chief P.K. Johnson
Millbrook Police Department
On Friday, December 20, 2024, Millbrook police responded to a business in the 2100 block of Main Street with regard to a theft from a vehicle. Upon the officer’s arrival, the victim advised that she exited her vehicle, leaving the vehicle unsecured, and entered the business to make a purchase. When she returned to her vehicle, she discovered that her purse had been taken. Upon review of the business’ surveillance video, officers observed a male subject, who was standing near the roadway adjacent to the business, make entry into the victim’s vehicle, via the passenger side door. The offender removed the victim’s purse and fled the business towards Water Drive.
Officers viewing the video recognized the alleged offender, later identified as Kison Tymes, a 28-year-old Millbrook resident, who resides in the immediate area of the business where the offense occurred. Shortly after the offense occurred, a patrol officer observed a vehicle leaving the suspected offender’s residence, at which time the officer initiated an investigative traffic stop. Upon contacting the driver, the officer noted that the driver was wearing the clothing observed which the suspect was wearing in surveillance video and identified the driver as Kison Tymes. The suspect was found to be wanted on active misdemeanor warrants issued by the Millbrook Municipal Court. Tymes was detained and a detective with the Millbrook Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit responded to the scene to conduct an investigation. Officers were able to locate several items, to include the victim’s purse in the immediate area between the business and the suspected offender’s residence.
Pursuant to an investigation, Tymes was placed under arrest, being charged with Unlawful Breaking and Entering a Vehicle and Theft of Property 3rd Degree (2 counts). Tymes was transported to the Millbrook Police Department for processing and later transported to the Elmore County Jail, where he remains pending warrants being obtained and served.
This is an example of outstanding police work on the part of our patrol officers and investigators that responded to this complaint. Fortunately, in this case, responding officers had immediate access to video surveillance from the business, which upon reviewing officers were familiar with the alleged offender. He was captured committing the offense and fleeing the scene. Officers later observed a vehicle leaving the suspected offender’s residence, which they stopped and were able to identify as the suspect observed on video leaving the scene. Following the alleged offender’s apprehension, officers were then able to recover most of the victim’s stolen property, which was located between the business and the alleged offender’s residence.
Should the alleged offender make bond on these felony charges, he still has unfinished business with the City of Millbrook, as he still has outstanding misdemeanor warrants that have yet to be served pending his release. He has a pretty good chance of remaining incarcerated over the Christmas holidays, which may not be of concern, as I’m reasonably sure that this young man is on Santa’s Naughty List.
