Get ready for an exciting week of basketball action as the Elmore County Basketball Tournament begins today Wednesday, December 18, at Wetumpka High School. Local high school teams will face off in a series of intense matchups leading up to the championship games on Friday.
The tournament kicks off on Wednesday, December 18, with the first girls’ game at 4:30 PM, featuring Tallassee taking on Holtville. Following that, the boys will take the court at 6:00 PM as Holtville faces Elmore County.
The action continues on Thursday, December 19, starting at 3:00 PM with the second girls’ game between Wetumpka and Holtville. At 4:30 PM, the boys’ second game features Stanhope Elmore against Tallassee. Later that evening, Stanhope Elmore will play the winner of the first girls’ game at 6:00 PM, and Wetumpka will face the winner of the first boys’ game at 7:30 PM.
On Friday, December 20, the tournament concludes with the championship games. The girls’ championship will tip off at 5:30 PM, followed by the boys’ championship at 7:00 PM.
Superintendent Richard Dennis expressed his excitement about the event, saying, “The Elmore County Basketball Tournament is a wonderful opportunity for our schools and communities to come together and celebrate the talents and teamwork of our student-athletes. We encourage everyone to come out and show their support.”
