The American Heritage Girls, with Troop AL0125 of Millbrook, were special guests at the Millbrook City Council meeting Tuesday morning.

The organization is again planning a special event with  Wreaths Across America. Locally, they will hold a special Wreath Laying ceremony at Brookside Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home on Dec. 14 beginning at 10 a.m.. The public is invited to attend this memorable event, which includes laying Christmas wreaths on more than 500 graves of veterans that are in the cemetery. There will be special guests and speakers before the wreaths are laid on each veteran’s grave.

Members of the group introduced themselves to Council members, and gave a brief history of the organization. They invited the Council and the community to attend the special event Saturday.

Council President Michael Gay thanked the girls for what they do each year for veterans, saying, “One of the wreaths every year that is laid is on the grave of a former Millbrook Council member, Joe Lott.”

This local Troop is sponsored by Millbrook Presbyterian Church.

Also known as AHG, the American Heritage Girls group is a nonprofit organization dedicated to a mission of building women of integrity through service to God, family, community and country. AHG provides girls the opportunities to learn life skills by fostering a sense of comradery and sisterhood.
