Millbrook Police Department

On Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at approximately 6:06 PM, Millbrook police responded to the 000 Block of Pine Court regarding a report of a subject shot. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the caller, later identified as Anthony Granata, a 54-year-old Millbrook resident, who advised that he’d shot his sister, a 55-year-old Millbrook resident, during an argument. Millbrook fire rescue units responded to the scene to render aid and the victim was transported to an area medical facility, where she was treated for serious to life threatening injuries. Detectives from the department’s Criminal Investigations Unit responded to process the scene, collect physical evidence and conduct an investigation.

Pursuant to the investigation, Anthony Granata was placed under arrest, being charged with Assault 1st Degree. Granata was transported to the Millbrook Police Department, where he was processed and later transported to the Elmore County Jail, where he has since bonded out.

This case remains under investigation, so we are limited in what information that may be released at this time. Apparently, there had been some unrest between members of this family prior to this incident. There was some type of argument that ensued between the two siblings, which both reside at the address, which ended with the victim being shot. The alleged offender then dialed 911, advising that he’d shot his sister, stating she needed medical assistance.

Our patrol officers responded to the scene where they made contact with the alleged offender, who was detained without incident. We made contact with the victim, who was suffering from gunshot wounds. Once the scene was secured, medics were able to respond and render medical assistance to the victim, who was immediately transported to an area medical facility for treatment of her injuries.
