The Prattville City Council approved a lease agreement between the City of Prattville and the Autauga County Commission to lease the property behind the Autauga County Administrative building at 135 N. Court Street for $10.
“We’re trying to find ways to improve some of the parking and we just want our downtown to be vibrant. Especially with all the efforts, passion and time that we put into our different holidays. We want everyone to enjoy them,” Prattville Mayor Bill Gillespie said.
The lease agreement with the County will be for additional parking during city events. The agreement is for the duration of one year, and ends on December 31, 2025, with the option to renew the agreement.
While it is only $10, the funds for this agreement will be paid for with the City of Prattville’s 2025 budget under the Misc. Contract Services category.
Gillespie also confirmed that the city is working on other smaller projects to add additional parking downtown for residents to use during city events.
The lease agreement will be official once the Autauga County Commission also signs the agreement, where Gillespie stated he thinks it will be signed by the next Autauga County Commission meeting.
