Back in September, the West Elmore County Lions Club hosted their annual Shana Faulkner Memorial Duck Race at Village Green Park. This event continues to grow in popularity, as well as having the ability to raise funds for community agencies.
In the club’s November meeting recently, members were able to put those funds to great use, by giving directly back to agencies and organizations that benefit the community.
Funds were dispersed to Heart of Alabama Food Bank, Butterfly Bridge, Alabama Sheriff’s Boys & Girls Ranch, School Ministries Elmore County. More donations on the way – thank you for buying ducks!
Members also gave to the following organizations with donations of $500 each: W.E.L.C.O.M.E. Center, AHERO, Joe Sewell Memorial Fund, Alabama Lions Sight, Lions Helen Keller Memorial and Heart Gallery of Alabama.
The West Elmore Lions Club is also currently selling shelled pecans as a fundraiser, just in time for holiday baking. You can make your order on their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100064679376993
Or you can drop by Kelley’s Accounting Office in Millbrook, and speak to Kathy Kelley.
For more information or membership to this valuable, local club, message their Facebook page.
The club will once again host the Duck Race in the coming year at Village Green Park. It is rather thrilling to see the plastic ducks dumped into Mill Creek and hear the crowd cheer. It is especially heartwarming to know that all funds raised go right back into our community. Thank You Lions members for all you do.
