The Autauga County Commission unanimously voted in favor to reappoint the current Chairman of the Autauga-Prattville Public Library Board back onto the Board of Trustees.
Ray Boles was reappointed Tuesday evening by the commission. Boles was selected by the Commission for his first term on the board back in December of 2023. He was then elected as the Chairman last January where he has since served in that capacity.
At the very start of the meeting during the public comment portion, Boles introduced the newly appointed Autauga-Prattville Library Director Tammy Bear and gave an update on the state of the library building. Bear was appointed by the Library Board at their last meeting in the beginning of November.
Boles stated that Bear has done a great job holding everything with the local library together and trying to move the library forward with the resources that she has at this time.
Boles confirmed that the library building will not be able to be prepared, and he asked the Commission to take part in the building committee that was formed at the last Library Board meeting. Boles asked the Commission to appoint someone in the near future to their building committee to keep the Commission in the happenings of the new library.
“We definitely want you all to be along with us because this is a county and city library. So, we want you guys to be a part of this process forward. We’ll do everything we can to get this up and running as fast as possible,” Boles said.
Boles did not make any comments regarding the library board position that was on the agenda to be voted on after public comment.
