Today, Millbrook held a memorable ceremony honoring local veterans at the Millbrook Civic Center. Community members gathered to pay tribute to the brave men and women who have served our country, making for a moving event that showcased Millbrook’s gratitude.

Carol New Bowman emceed the event, bringing a warm and heartfelt touch to the proceedings. The ceremony began with a prayer led by Pastor Joey Byrd of Victory Baptist Church, setting a tone of reverence. Wesley Morris followed with a stirring rendition of the National Anthem.

A community effort made the day even more special with generous contributions from local organizations. Millbrook Men’s Club provided camp stew for the veterans and guests, while Jim ‘N Nick’s of Prattville donated dozens of their popular cheese biscuits. Kingdom Dough contributed a beautifully crafted cake, and Sweet Hart Coffee kept everyone warm with donated coffee.

The Trail Life Troop proudly presented the colors, and American Heritage Girls volunteered to serve lunch, adding to the sense of unity and service that the event embodied.

Brenda Dennis, President and CEO of the Millbrook Area Chamber of Commerce, shared heartfelt words on behalf of the Chamber: “We love our veterans and are always looking for ways to tell them how grateful we are for their sacrifices in securing our freedom. The Millbrook Area Chamber of Commerce is proud and honored to partner with the City of Millbrook to create celebrations like today to do just that.”

To further commemorate the day, RSVP Montgomery and the Tallassee Quilters group raffled a stunning handmade Americana quilt, a piece of artistry that celebrated patriotism and community spirit.

The City of Millbrook’s Veterans Day ceremony was a heartfelt gathering that underscored the city’s commitment to honoring those who have given so much. This event not only honored veterans but also united the community in gratitude and remembrance.
