On Friday, October 25th — Coosada Elementary School celebrated a successful Attendance Awareness Campaign for the month of September by throwing an exciting party for 232 students who achieved perfect attendance throughout the month. The event aimed to reward students for their dedication to being present every day and encourage others to prioritize attendance.

Generous sponsors, including local businesses and community leaders, made the celebration possible. Millbrook Domino’s Pizza, owned by Gina Pelligrino, provided delicious pizzas and brownies, which were a big hit with the students. Coosada Elementary School’s Parent-Teacher Organization provided drinks for the students. In addition, prizes were donated by Launch, Skate Zone, and Bama Lanes, with a variety of gifts given out at random to students as part of the festivities.

A highlight of the day was the grand prize drawing, which included three large prizes: two brand-new bikes and a scooter. Wendell Saxon, an Elmore County Board Member, and Lucille Landrum, a Coosada Town Council Member, generously donated these big-ticket items, creating an extra sense of excitement among the students. The winners, drawn randomly from the pool of perfect attendees, were thrilled to take home these special rewards.

Thanks to all the sponsors and community partners who came together to support Coosada Elementary’s campaign, the event was a resounding success. The principal, Jan McKenzie, assistant principals, Amy Williams and Michaeline Fuller, along with the faculty, and staff members expressed their gratitude, noting the positive impact such recognition has on encouraging students to maintain strong attendance.

The celebration was a memorable event for students, who not only enjoyed a day filled with food and fun but were also reminded of the value of attending school consistently. The school looks forward to continuing its Attendance Awareness Campaign with the support of its wonderful community partners, ensuring each student feels motivated and valued for their commitment to education.
