From Chief P.K. Johnson
Millbrook Police Department
On Friday, October 25, 2024, Millbrook police responded to a report of a burglary in progress in the 80 block of Tiny Town Drive. Upon arrival, contact was made with the homeowner, who stated that upon his return to his residence, he encountered an unknown individual inside of his home. The alleged offender, later identified as Donald Nobles, a 20- year-old Montgomery resident, was detained by responding officers without incident.
A detective from the department’s Criminal Investigations Unit responded to the scene to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Pursuant to an investigation, Nobles was placed under arrest, being charged with Burglary 3rd Degree and Theft of Property 4th Degree. Nobles was processed and later transported to the Elmore County Jail, where he was turned over to Jail staff under a $21,000 bond.
This is a strange case, in that it appears that the alleged offender appears forced entry into the victim’s residence, where apparently, he helped himself to his groceries, his bathroom and laundry facilities. While the alleged offender has several addresses in this and nearby areas, it’s unclear as to his status, being homeless or not. This situation was handled perfectly by the owner of the residence, in that he immediately notified the police department rather than attempting to confront the individual. This allowed our officers to quickly take the alleged offender into custody without incident.
No matter the circumstances, it’s never a good idea to enter someone’s home and help yourself to their belongings. There are organizations out there to help people in need and that would have been the better option for this young man, if he truly needed help. This situation could have ended much differently had the property owner not exercised restraint and good judgement.
