As the leaves change and the seasons gradually turn from summer to fall, so does the Prattville Farmers Market with the products, produce and local vendors channeling the flannel one pumpkin at a time.

The Prattville Farmers Market is located on Doster Road in the Grove across from Pratt Park, just a few short blocks from historic downtown Prattville. Organizers held their first of the season Fall Farmers Market where fall crops and other goodies were the main focus of the market last Saturday.

“The fall market gives our local farmers an opportunity to bring out crops and goods that are specific to the fall season whether that’s a little pumpkin and extra spices in some of the baked goods or crops that only grow this time of year,” Prattville Cultural Arts Manager Mynecia Steele said.

Picked with love and shared with friends, everything from the vendors to the produce is all grown and sold locally at the Farmers Market in Prattville. The theme for this pop-up fall event was “simply fall,” Steele said.

Not only does having farmers markets boost the social aspect in a community, it also gives farmers a chance to socialize and see the faces of the people that they serve.

“The social aspect is huge with our farmer’s market. It gives our farmers and our marketgoers a chance to meet up, socialize and enjoy the market during a cooler part of the year,” Steele said.

At this year’s Fall Farmers Market, vendors had fall produce such as pumpkins, squash, gourds, pickled treats, fresh baked bread, desserts, local honey, goat milk soap and even flowers for sale.

“You’ll see couples, you’ll see friends hanging out, retirees, kids playing with our yard games, and families. It brings so many people from different backgrounds to one place to share in their love for supporting local businesses, and also finding fresh products and homemade goods. I always love to see who comes to the market. It really is an opportunity to mingle and bring together different parts of our community,” Steele said.

Steele stated that she loves all the vendors that attend the markets, from the heat of summer to the season’s change in Autumn. The sense of community and supporting local at the Grove in Prattville never fails to always bring a smile.

“There’s always such a great atmosphere over at the Grove, our DJ plays such calming and chill background kind of jazzy music, and then we had games and even hula hoops for the kids. It’s always just such a great way to spend a Saturday morning,” Steele said.
