Smoke alarms: Make them work for you

From the City of Prattville

Fire Prevention Week

October 6-12 is Fire Prevention Week!

This morning, Mayor Gillespie presented the official proclamation for Fire Prevention Week to Chief Bingham, Fire Marshall Allen, Captain Maners, and Sergeant Inspector Cupps. This year’s FPW campaign, “Smoke alarms: Make them work for you!™” strives to educate everyone about the importance of having working smoke alarms in the home. Smoke alarms that are properly installed and maintained play a vital role in reducing fire deaths and injuries. Fire spreads fast—working smoke alarms give you early warning so you can get outside quickly.

Checklist for Smoke Alarms:

INSTALL – Smoke Alarms in every bedroom, outside each separate sleeping area, and on each level of the home.
