The Prattville Airport and Cloud9 Aviation plan to be the “ghostest with the mostest” this spooky season by bringing the 4th annual Haunted Airport back for another year, and it’s a no-brainer to attend for spooky good time.

The event will take place Oct. 25 and 26 starting at 6:30 p.m-8:30. at Prattville Airport where kids are encouraged to dress up, The event will be located at 1450 Aviation Way in Prattville. Admission is $5 and cash or card will be accepted at the gate. All proceeds from the event will go to benefit the Prattville YMCA Field of Dreams.

“We do a lot of different charity events during the year, but this is just my favorite, and this one is probably the biggest event that we do and it’s always so fun,” owner of Cloud 9 Aviation Elisabeth Gardner said.

Gardner stated that she has always loved all things spooky and scary, and that she takes great joy in decorating the airport and coordinating her undead friends that will make a few visits throughout both evenings of the event.

However, if there is a need, Gardner stated she would be happy to accommodate an opportunity for special needs children, and the younger children that might be scared. This opportunity would be by RSVP only, and would happen Friday Oct. 25, at 5 p.m. Parents or guardians that are interested must RSVP by Oct. 22, by calling Gardner at 334-324-5001 or emailing Gardner at [email protected]

“We would open up for the kids that may not be able to handle or may not like the flashing lights and loud haunted sounds. We could leave more of the lights on and still have the zombies land but just something a little more laid back. I’ve got a grandson that is autistic, and this would completely freak him out. But he would love it if it wasn’t so dark and if the sounds were turned down. So, I do want to give other children the opportunity to enjoy the fun as well,” Gardner said.

Last year, Gardner stated that over $4,000 was raised and 700 kids came through the spook-tacular Haunted Airport event. She is expecting similar numbers this year. Gardner confirmed that each year and each event always goes to benefit a different local organization.

Gardner has encouraged people to come early as there will be food trucks, face painting, trick or treating, a monster cake walk sponsored by the Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce, and of course the zombie invasion throughout the night.

During the event, each room within the airport will have a different theme. Kids will have to find the character in each room to trick or treat for candy and toys, Gardner confirmed. Gardner also stated that kids of all ages are welcome, however all children must be accompanied by an adult.

Gardner said that this year there will be a police presence for both nights of spooky festivities and the fence will be blocked off. This year,  onlookers will need to purchase a $5 ticket to benefit the Prattville YMCA.

“This is just a fun event that we do, something fun that benefits a local charity, and I just love to be scary,” Gardner said with a laugh.
