Today, County Road Dirt Works, LLC marked a significant milestone with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce. The event, attended by local community members and Chamber representatives, included a warm reception featuring cookies and homemade banana nut bread.
County Road Dirt Works offers a heartfelt and meaningful service, allowing families to preserve the legacy of their loved ones by laying them to rest on their own land. The business is committed to providing natural burials, ensuring that these final moments are both personal and respectful to nature.
The company is dedicated to the memory of Pamela Bean Short, the mother of the business founders, who passed away in August and was honored with a natural burial. “Passion is important, and this is our passion,” said Nevada Short, CEO and founder of County Road Dirt Works. “I’m excited about what we can do for our community. Our father had a business mindset and passed that on to us.”
Danielle Smith, a key member of the team, assured attendees that the process is seamless. “I can help you step by step and make it as easy as possible,” she said.
In addition to their caring approach, the team emphasized that many people are unaware of the burial rights available to them in Alabama. “You have many options, and this is one of them,” added Smith.
Austin Smith, the superintendent of County Road Dirt Works, oversees the excavation work, ensuring the process is handled with precision and care. The company offers competitive pricing for their services, with costs starting at $3,000.
Other services they offer include land clearing, driveway repair, erosion control, debris removal, storm cleanup, mobile home preparation and environmental services.
Patty VanderWal, President of the Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce, shared her enthusiasm about the new business. “This is an exciting day to have County Road Dirt Works with us. This is a unique, family-owned business, and we really think it’s great.”
