Of Erin Wilson

Erin Wilson, a 2022 graduate of Holtville High School, has been selected as assistant drum major for Troy University’s Sound of the South (SOTS) Marching Band. Erin has been a member of SOTS since entering Troy University as a freshman in the fall semester of 2022. During her sophomore year with the Troy band, she was selected as assistant section leader of the saxophones.

Erin has been playing saxophone since beginner band in the fifth grade. She was a member of the Green Machine Marching Band at Holtville High School from seventh through twelfth grades. During her junior and senior years, she served as the band’s drum major and received several honors, including “Best in Class.”

Erin is in her Junior year at Troy University and is majoring in secondary education with an emphasis in biology. She is a member of Kappa Kappa Psi, a band service organization at Troy University.

To become a drum major with the Sound of the South, candidates must be interviewed and must direct the band in two marching band charts. Band members weigh in on the drum major selection as well.

“I am truly so honored to be doing something I love! I am so thankful for all the people who have supported me this far in my journey, and I am thankful for this opportunity God has blessed me with!” Erin said.

Erin is attending Troy University on a Chancellor’s scholarship.
