Prattville Christian Academy Senior Emma Cate Carter has committed to continue her volleyball career with Coastal Alabama Community College in Fall 2025. In the midst of her final season at PCA, Carter surpassed her 1,000th varsity career kills during a win over Vestavia Hills in the Heffstrong Volleyball Tournament. She is only the second player in the history of PCA’s volleyball program to reach this milestone. She noted several reasons behind her success in this aspect of the sport.
“Continuously improving my timing and attack of the ball helps with consistency, along with an improved hitting percentage. All of these things are beneficial for improving our team goals–to score points and win games!”
Carter helped the Lady Panther advance to the Elite 8 of the gold bracket of the Heffstrong Volleyball Tournament, defeating Spain Park, ranked #6 in Class 7A, and Vestavia Hills, ranked #9 in Class 7A, according to MaxPreps. Through five games against elite competition, to include Houston, Tuscaloosa County, Spain Park, Vestavia Hills, and Hazel Green, Carter had 42 kills, 27 digs, 5 aces, and 1 block.
Carter visited Coastal Alabama in July 2024 and noticed the school’s updated facilities to include the weight room, gym, and locker room. Carter has goals in mind after high school, both athletically and professionally.
“Competitive drive is a big part of college sports. Winning is one aspect of this, but the bigger picture involves improving skills, working as a team, and striving to be the best one can be. I hope to expand on my personal development and discipline. Balancing academic responsibilities with practices, games, and workouts can be challenging.”
After two years at community college, Carter is open to continue at a 4-year school if the opportunity presents itself and is in line with her career goals.
Carter is interested in Cosmetology or Physical Therapy (Exercise Science). “I would like to build up clientele to one day be a business owner and contribute back to the community,” Carter said.
The senior realizes that her time at Prattville Christian Academy has prepared her to be successful after high school. “It has prepared me to be a better person both on and off the court. I feel like it has helped build character in a Christ-centered environment.”
