A few Daniel Pratt Elementary School students were lucky enough to meet and demonstrate parts of their Starbase Maxwell field trip experience to First Lady Dr. Jill Biden and Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III yesterday while they visited Maxwell Air Force Base in their mission to support military families and their children with quality early education.

We were honored to welcome First Lady Dr. Jill Biden and Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III to Maxwell AFB today!
They celebrated our incredible airmen and their families, highlighting the “Taking Care of People” initiative and Dodea Maxwell AFB Elementary Middle School’s new universal pre-k program.
Secretary Austin showcased new programs focused on mental health, wellness, and family support. Meanwhile, Dr. Biden emphasized her dedication to universal pre-K, aligning with our mission to support military families and their children with quality early education.
Additionally, they visited Starbase Maxwell where they learned about all the ongoing STEM initiatives in the tri-county area surrounding the installation. Starbase Maxwell is the largest Starbase program in the country and the only program in Alabama!
