On Tuesday, the Millbrook City Council approved spending $86,500 to repair the two pedestrian bridges at Village Green Park.
Council members unanimously voted to approve the expenditure through Resolution 24-64. It states that the bridges at the park sustained significant damage during a flood event in late July of this year. The damage to the South Bridge made it unusable, and the North Bridge requires stabilization.
The city contacted contractors for scope and pricing, and David Bulger, Inc. provided a quote for the necessary materials, personnel, equipment and timeframe to get those repairs completed.
For the South Bridge, it will require a crane to repair the foundation and stabilization. There will also be concrete repairs. The bridge will be reset to proper elevation to match existing sidewalks, with debris removed as well.
As for the North Bridge, debris will be removed, and it will be stabilized.
It is expected to take two weeks once work begins. There are multiple events scheduled in the near future for the park, including Tunes on the Green, Cops and Kids and Boo Fest. The work is expected to be completed in time for these very popular and well-attended events.
Sept. 5 – Tunes on the Green will feature Jeff and the Johnsons from 6-8 p.m. FREE concert. Vendors will be on site for concessions.
Sept. 28 – Millbrook Cops and Kids from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. FREE event with FREE T-shirts while they last. Food, fun, games, demonstrations.
Oct. 26 – Millbrook Boo Festival from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. FREE candy and booths to enjoy. Come in your best family-friendly costume. The park will be decorated for the season and it is a great time for family photos!
