On Saturday, the Autauga Prattville Library hosted their inaugural See You at the Library (SYATL) event honoring local First Responders. The program is a national day that is held each year on August 24th. It is an event that is dedicated to fostering American, Constitutional, and Biblical values through wholesome story hours.
The library showed their appreciation to local first responders by putting together library mugs which included a cup, a flashlight, tea and a thank you card attached. Families that attended this event made hand made thank you cards, and other crafts to give to the local first responders.
Members of the Prattville Fire Department and a Prattville EMT student took time to talk to the children, read them a story, and passed out plastic firefighter hats, coloring books, and sticker badges.
“Community is so important to our library. Our first responders and their families are a big part of that,” said Autauga Prattville Library Director Tammy Bear.
She continued, “This event, ‘See You at the Library – Honoring Our First Responders’ was our way of bringing the families in our community together to thank our local police, firefighters, and paramedics for their dedication to Autauga County and its people. Their courage and their sacrifice every day for our community needs to be recognized and this positive family gathering allowed us to do that.
“We are excited to see our patrons coming out to support the library and all our weekly programs. We are also looking forward to our next TAB book club starting soon and our Harvest Hoopla in October and of course our Milk and Cookies with Santa in December.”
