Vacation Bible School was recently held at Prattville Church of Christ. The theme was “Fearless Faith – Deeds of the Defenders,” and several people from the book of Acts were studied as well as their qualities. Luke was the author of Acts, and the Accuracy of scripture he wrote was examined. Peter preached the first gospel sermon, and his quality studied was Attentiveness, Aquila and Priscilla were Aware of the needs of others, and Paul was a man of Action. Each lesson helped the students to develop FEARLESS FAITH! The curriculum was from Apologetics Press which serves to reinforce belief in God and the Bible.
The students learned by skits, puppets, hands-on activities and crafts, games and bible application lessons.
The building was decorated so as to make the Bible come alive and reinforce the environment similar to bible times (see Jerusalem Marketplace pictures, including a huge painting of the Hill of Golgotha painted by Sarah and Julia Sharit, Mara Brenneman, and Katherine Hughes. Students also went back in time to the city of Athens, Greece where “Paul” spoke on Mars Hill to the Athenians about the one true God in a city who worshipped many gods and goddesses. A replica of the Parthenon was designed by Tony Dyer.
Snacks were served in a room decorated with the theme, “It’s Cool to be Fearless,” and a fun “Glow in the Dark” hallway which featured words and phrases studied during the week transitioned students to the next center. The toddlers had their own special centers in the education hall. Adult classes on the same topics were also offered and well-attended.
