Area youth bowlers will be ‘Rolling to the Gold’ for Nationals

By Robin Campbell

2024 Gold Championships Coming

It is that time of year again when elite youth bowlers make their way to Nationals. This year the 2024 Junior Gold Championships are being held in Michigan. Bowlers come from all over the world and United States will be part of the tournament. There are 73 youth bowlers from across Alabama embarking on their journeys this week. Youth bowlers work year-round to prepare for the grueling but exciting time at Nationals.

They have to be able to adapt to four unknown oil patterns, new bowling houses and bowling at different times of the day. The kickoff to the Junior Gold Championships starts on Friday, July 12th with the first round of practice. Each practice is 40 minutes long. Each bowler must figure out which ball in their limited arsenal of 5 balls to use. They are surrounded by other bowlers fighting for the top spot of Junior Gold Champion in their division. The tournament competition part starts Monday, July 15th and ends with the TV finals on July 20th. The tournament also gives college scouts and bowlers a chance to meet. Professional bowlers are in attendance also with Demo Day and the trade show. There is a party in the park with opening ceremonies where each state and country are represented. It is an amazing experience to be had at least once. You can find more information at Bowl.com
