Tuesday night, the Millbrook City Council showed their support for multiple teams involved with Millbrook Baseball that will be competing in the All-Star World Series tournaments.
The teams 12U, 11U and 10U, will each receive $500 per team from the city to help with expenses as they attend the All-Star Tournament in Baton Rouge.
“I want to congratulate these young kids for doing great in their leagues and going to the World Series in your age group. It is fantastic.” Millbrook Mayor Al Kelley said. “I appreciate you representing Millbrook. I appreciate all of the mamas and daddies and grandmamas and granddaddies that came down to see you and help get you to practice. They helped you get home and make sure you got your homework done. Thank you for being a part of their success. It means a lot to the city. It means a lot to the younger generation now that we have folks that will do things like that.”
The coaches and team members were then brought to the front of the room to introduce themselves and pose for a picture with the mayor.
Taking these types of trips with large groups of kids can be expensive. Council members said they were happy to help in some small way to curb those expenses.
Coming up the Millbrook 12U team has fundraisers to help with expenses, if you can help support them.
On Saturday, Beef O’Brady’s in Prattville is hosting a pancake fundraiser for Millbrook 12U Baseball. Tickets are $10 each. Breakfast will include pancakes, sausage and a drink.
The 12U team is also looking for individual sponsors. There are several levels of sponsorship available. Contact Coach Joey Deaton for more information at (334) 717-3659.
Also, the team is holding a Car Wash fundraiser in Millbrook July 6 at O’Reilly’s Auto Parts from 8 a.m. until noon.
If you have additional fundraiser events information, share that to Sarah Stephens at [email protected] and we will be happy to promote!
Congratulations to these teams and coaches for your incredible hard work and dedication!
