ECHOES OF THE PAST:
Select Works from the DAC Foundation Collection
This painting above by DAC artist Richard B. Brough is one of 24 included in our latest exhibition, “ECHOES OF THE PAST: Select Works from the DAC Foundation Collection.” This exhibition, held at the Millbrook Cultural Arts Center, “THE ART MILL,” located at 3560 Grandview Road in Millbrook, is the result of a partnership between the DAC Foundation and the City of Millbrook.
This painting, titled “PICNIC AREA AT MUSCLE SHOALS,” was commissioned by Ford Motor Company for the July 1963 issue of “FORD TIMES” magazine, a travel magazine published by Ford Motor Company from 1954–1981. The painting was deaccessioned from the Haggerty Museum of Art in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and purchased by DAC Foundation founder and director Mark Andrew Harris. “We are always excited to bring artwork painted by Alabama artists back to Alabama. This is an important part of our mission,” said Harris.
The exhibition will continue through Thursday, June 27, 2024, concluding with a 6:00 p.m. detailed presentation about each of the 24 paintings and the 15 artists represented in the exhibition. Our regular gallery hours are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. We are also open by appointment. To schedule an appointment, call or text us at 334-513-1086.
