The Millbrook Area Chamber of Commerce hosted its Morning Brew today, and the event was full of characters at the Millbrook Community Players Theater.

Morning Brews are held regularly in the early morning, to allow fox mixing, mingling and door prizes before the normal work day begins. If your business is interested in hosting a Morning Brew, contact the Millbrook Chamber.

The Millbrook Theater is based out of the old Robinson Springs School on Main Street. The theatre volunteers have transformed the auditorium stage in preparation for the opening of ‘The Adventures of Peter Rabbit and His Friends.’

The opening is June 20 at 7 p.m. Other evening dates are June 21, 22, 27,28 and 29.

2 p.m. showings are set for June 22, 23, 29, and 30th.

For tickets, visit the theatre’s website at www.millbrooktheater.com

During the Morning Brew, guests were given backstage tours, visited the prop and wardrobe areas and were able to walk on the stage. Peter Rabbit was also present, in character, and posed for photos with many of the guests.

Millbrook Chamber President Brenda Dennis praised the theater actors and volunteers for the joy they bring to the community.

She encouraged everyone at the Morning Brew to attend plays and see the amazing amount of talent on display throughout the year.

Other visitors talked about the benefits of theater, and how taking part can help a person blossom into someone that is stronger, no longer shy, well-spoken and outgoing.

This upcoming play is directed by Michael Proper.

Background – This production is actually five delightful tales including Peter Rabbit, The Tailor of Gloucester and Jemima Puddle-Duck. These are interwoven with the fascinating life of their creator, Beatrix Potter, in this enchanting, enlightening entertainment for all ages. The play moves back and forth from the fantasy world she created to the intriguing story of Beatrix Potter herself, who overcame her lonely, strict childhood. In her early years, her writings and drawings were discouraged in the male-oriented Victorian era. She would one day become the most widely read children’s author of all time.

You will also meet Beatrix’s governess, Annie (who narrates the play), and Annie’s children for whom many of the stories were originally written. Both entertaining and educational, this play is a must for any child—or adult—who has ever fallen under the magical spell of Peter Rabbit and his many friends.
