The Prattville Industrial Development Board, or IDB, will be hosting their annual Daniel Pratt Industry Appreciation Dinner on June 20th at the Marriott Legends in Prattville. The dinner is invitation only, however there are still spots available, Chairman of the board Bo Evans confirmed.
“With the industrial development board, one of our missions is to support the existing industry in and around Prattville, and we feel like this is one of the ways that we can show our support and to show our appreciation,” Evans said.
The IDB has hosted an annual industry appreciation dinner for years, however since covid this is the second year back up and running. Last year the IDB included a new award, the Daniel Pratt Industrialist of the Year Award, which will also be presented as well.
“We wanted to create an award that symbolizes the industrial spirit of Daniel Pratt. Whether they’re a big or small business, in a large industry or a small industry. This award goes to the individual that embodies an upward vision, and someone that shares the same industrious philosophy of Daniel Pratt,” Evans said.
The first recipients of this award last year went to Ann and John Boutwell for their tremendous resolve in preserving local history. Evans stated that he thought the award really enhances the dinner, creating an opportunity to celebrate existing industry and new industry within the Prattville area, as well as the positive impact on the local economy.
Evans confirmed this year’s recipient of the Daniel Pratt Industrialist of the Year Award is in a completely different industry than Boutwell’s. Evans stated he is extremely excited for this recipient who is very well deserving.
“When most people think of industry, they think of heavy industry like the paper mill or brick plant, which we certainly have and we love. We’re happy industry is here and they provide great jobs for our community. But there’s also other smaller industries and businesses within the community. We have people who are in the tourist industry, the hospitality industry, service and finance. We want to support all of them and our appreciation to all the industries in Prattville,” Evans said.
There are still spots available by invitation only. Contact the Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce, (334) 365-7392 or Bo Evans 334-657-4374, to be put on the mailing list and guest list to receive an invitation.
