The Millbrook City Council reviewed a site plan Tuesday for a new development currently referred to as Russell Properties.
It is located across from 17 Springs along Hwy. 14 formerly occupied by Huston’s Fireworks. That building has been torn down and the area cleared for development.
It is just over three acres and will be the location of a new 12,732 square foot commercial shopping center, with multiple independent businesses.
The owner of record on the site development is Russell Timberlands of Wetumpka. The design engineer is Greg Gillian.
“This is undeveloped property, and we have cleaned up the old Huston’s fireworks stand,” Millbrook’s Project Manager Stuart Peters told the council during the work session. “This is a shopping center. They have an anchor tenant, and they have more areas for retail space.”
Peters praised city officials for working with the site plan on the design and construction.
The same owners also control the Summit Retail Center at Hwy. 14 and Grandview Road next door, where the gas station and other properties are already located.
