MILLBROOK — Residents visiting Village Green Park were welcomed to enjoy live music, free food, and fellowship on Saturday during the first “Praise in the Park” event of the year by The Gathering Place (TGP). The event was the first of seven free Praise in the Park events the church hosts to engage and support the community.
Praise in the Park brings together local churches and organizations on one Saturday a month through November to lead praise and worship songs and prayer near the park’s gazebo. Residents bring folding chairs and blankets, while TGP provides food and drinks from around 6 to 8 p.m. An area is also set up for prayer and ministry.
Praise in the Park started last year when TGP Pastor D.J. Stinard sought more opportunities to serve within Millbrook. In addition to Praise in the Park, the TGP Family serves with the Welcome Center and multiple other organizations to share God’s love with the community. The church also participated in the city’s Christmas tree lighting event.
“The church the Bible describes is not just a building. If we’re going to show our community what love really looks like, that has to happen beyond our physical church’s doors,” said TGP Pastor D.J. Stinard. “TGP has been blessed with opportunities to do this very thing in Africa, Guatemala, and other mission trips. We’re so thankful to be able to serve right at home with the hopes that more and more people get to experience the love of Jesus, right here in the park.”
The remaining dates for Praise and the Park at the Village Green are as follows. Each event begins at 6 p.m.:
June 15
July 13
August 17
September 14
October 19
November 16
