Autauga Creek Improvement Committee (ACIC) is proud to be chosen as one of the recipients of the Alabama Scenic River Trail (ASRT) Waterway Enhancement Program grant for 2024. This program supports local organizations in their efforts to enhance freshwater recreation opportunities across Alabama.

ACIC has been awarded $5,000.00 to support the purchase of a new launch system for canoes and kayaks along Autauga Creek. Partnering with the City of Prattville, the new launch system will be located above the spillway at Mill Pond. It will benefit the Autauga Creek Canoe Trail, Spillway Park, and the Creekwalk and contribute to the overall improvement of waterway access and quality of life in our local community.

The ASRT Waterway Enhancement Program aims to fund projects that enable more people to get out and enjoy Alabama’s waterways. This aligns perfectly with ACIC’s mission to keep Autauga Creek clean, clear, and passable. We are honored to have been selected as one of the six awardees for this cycle and deeply appreciate the City of Prattville’s invaluable partnership in this project.

“This funding will allow us to add an additional launch point along the Autauga Creek Canoe Trail’s upper creek system, and we are thrilled to receive this grant, which will make a meaningful impact on our local waterways,” said Skip Lobmiller, President of ACIC.
