Elmore Commission honors State Champion Wrestlers from PCA, Tallassee

The attached Resolutions were unanimously approved at the Elmore County Commission Meeting on Monday, March 25. Some information on each State Title winner can be found below. Thank you so much!

Aidan Cockrell is a Senior at PCA. He is the 2024 AHSAA 1A – 4A Heavyweight Wrestling State Champion. This is Aidan’s first State Title, and the first ever Wrestling State Champion in PCA Wrestling History. His overall season record is 37-2, holding onto the #1 ranking in his weight class for 1A-4A all season. Aidan finished his career with 109 career wins. His Coach Trent Staggs described Aidan as not only a great wrestler but the ultimate teammate, always cheering for and supporting his teammates.

Mason Nelson is a Junior at Tallassee High School. He is the 2024 AHSAA Class 5A Wrestling State Champion in the106-Pound Weight Division. This is Mason’s first State Title, which he won with a 17-0 technical fall victory. His overall season record was 49-5. Mason has been wrestling since the age of five (5) and it has been his life-long dream to win the State Championship.

Land Bell is a Junior at Tallassee High School. He is the 2024 AHSAA Class 5A Wrestling State Champion in the 144-Pound Weight Division. This is Land’s Second-Consecutive State Title. He was undefeated this season with an overall record of 57-0. In 50 of his 54 matches, we won by pins, technical falls, or wins by major decision. Land was selected as the 2024 Elmore County Wrestler of the Year.

Ramon Lozada is a Senior at Tallassee High School. He is the 2024 AHSAA Class 5A Wrestling State Champion in the 120-Pound Weight Division. This is Ramon’s first State Title. He was undefeated this season with an overall record of 43-0, winning matches over State Champions from Tennessee and Louisiana. Ramon was selected for the 2024 North/South All-Star Duals Tournament this year.

Coach John Mask described these three Tallassee High School student athletes as leaders on and off the mat. They make their teammates better and work hard each time they practice or compete.
