The Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce hosted their annual membership cookout and their inaugural BizBurst Expo event, formerly known as Schmooz-A-Palooza, Thursday evening.

“It’s a great way to have the community come in and see what local businesses have to offer, and to bring them down to the chamber and just have an enjoyable evening. This year is a bit smaller, I thought it would be nice to have everyone in one room for a better opportunity to mingle,” President of the Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce Patty VanderWal said.

The event is geared towards local businesses being able to showcase their products and services that are available to patrons. Businesses such as Nothing Bundt Cakes, Coca Cola, Easterseals, Servpro, the YMCA, State Farm and many more had booths.

Upon arrival, a “passport” with all the businesses in attendance was handed out, where each table visited would initial or check their box. When that attendee had all boxes initialed, they would then be entered to win various door prizes and drawings, up to $250.

Non-perishable food items were also collected upon entrance to support the Autauga Interfaith Care Center.

“This event has gone on for several years and we’ve reinvented it several times. The membership appreciation cookout is not just for our members but to show appreciation to them and to thank everyone for being a part of this community and the Chamber,” VanderWal said.

The Chamber also provided hamburgers, hotdogs, drinks and desserts for not only their members but to the community and all in attendance.
