On Tuesday, Millbrook Middle School hosted their annual Fritters and Father Figures event in the school’s cafeteria. Over 200 students attended with their fathers and father figures. This year, Bishop KK Middleton from Grace Church East Montgomery was the guest speaker. Letitia Ruffin-Johnson, Assistant Principal for 5th and 6th grade, was in charge of putting this event together for the school. The 100 Men of Millbrook organization helped host this event and was there to recruit new members as well. All guests enjoyed donuts, and apple fritters, provided by Kingdom Dough in Millbrook. Coffee was provided by Sweet Hart Coffee Co., in Millbrook. Door prizes were given out at the end. Some of these amazing prizes were donated by the Floyd family of Main Street Vintage Market.

Bishop Middleton’s speech was about the Men Code T. He spoke about not telling lies on other men, not to touch another man’s stuff, and not to take another man’s life. He gave a very powerful, motivating speech to all of the men in the room.

“If you find something that you want, figure out how much it costs, and work for it to get it,” Bishop Middleton said.

“I am very grateful for the opportunity to have our fathers and father figures at MMS. We need more men leaders showing up and they are welcome at any time. Special thanks to our sponsors for making this event a success,” said Tarica Lamar, Principal of MMS.

“Bishop Middleton gave all the students, fathers and father figures a man code to remember,” said Letitia Ruffin-Johnson.

She continued, “Those encouraging words of wisdom would always keep a man honest and out of trouble. Bishop Middleton acknowledged everyone as men which gave all the students, even fifth graders, a sense of belonging and pride.

Also in attendance was the newly formed organization 100 Men of Millbrook to recruit new members and help host the event. Millbrook Middle is so thankful for the men who came out to support the students and the community. Bishop Middleton was outstanding, and his message was inspiring.

MMS’s next school event is coming soon on April 2nd, 2024. This event is called, “Divas and Donuts.”  This will be focused on the mothers, and mother figures with their young daughters.

Millbrook Middle is located at 4228 Chapman Road in Millbrook. For more information about any upcoming events and information please visit the MMS Facebook page at: www.Facebook.com/mustangpridecatchit
