Dee Dee Calhoon is your best choice for 19th Circuit Judge, Place 4. She is a true servant leader in her community and has been fighting for those who are most vulnerable since her career in law began in 2001. Dee Dee has shown compassion and a steadfast dedication to ethics by protecting all of those entrusted to her care within the court system. She is a certified Domestic Relations mediator and has served as Guardian ad Litem with an impeccable track record of honesty and a commitment to impartiality. Serving as the Autauga County contract public defender since 2018, Dee Dee has gained a solid understanding of the various issues faced by families in the community.
With an undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Faulkner University, Dee Dee began working as a staff assistant in the fraud division of the Beasley Allen Law firm by day and pursuing her law degree at Jones School of Law by night. Her hard work paid off as she passed the bar exam having graduated among the first provisionally accredited class at Jones School of Law. After earning her law degree, Dee Dee attained the position of Assistant United States Attorney within the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Alabama where she was employed for nearly twelve years.
Dee Dee and her husband, Troy, moved to Prattville in 2001 and fell in love with their community. They have dedicated their lives to serving and protecting their neighbors through her work in the court system and his work as a fireman for the City of Prattville. It is also where Dee Dee’s private law office, Calhoon Law, LLC, is located.
Dee Dee understands the importance and magnitude of responsibility behind the Domestic Relations responsibilities of Circuit Judge. She and Troy have four children and two grandchildren of their own. She has experience in family law matters, juvenile cases, adoption, bankruptcy, and criminal defense, as well as non-profit and business law. She has demonstrated her willingness to serve her community through her Board positions, memberships, and involvement with the Prattville Service League; Glynwood Childcare Ministry, Inc.; River Region Pregnancy Center; Autauga Interfaith Care Center; and the YMCA.
