Update to include statement from Elmore School Superintendent Richard Dennis – “The administration at Elmore County High School investigated a student that made threats toward the school. Afterwards the administration along with the school resource officer searched the student’s vehicle and discovered a weapon. The criminal side of this investigation has been turned over to law enforcement. The school system will follow the discipline procedure for the Elmore County Board of Education.”
ECLECTIC, ALA – An Elmore High School senior has been removed from campus, and arrested after allegedly making terroristic threats, and possessing a firearm on campus.
Investigator Lock with the Elmore Sheriff’s Office confirmed that this morning, Antorne Lykes, 19, made alleged threats about a possible school shooting, which was heard by witnesses. Those witnesses came forward giving statements, and Lykes was brought in for questioning. He admitted to officers he did have a gun in his vehicle on school property. Officers found the weapon and took it into evidence.
Lykes was arrested and charged with a Terroristic Threat and possessing a firearm in a restricted area (school grounds.)
Lykes, a senior, was scheduled to graduate from high school this May. We have reached out to Elmore County School Superintendent Richard Dennis for comment and will update information as soon as possible.
