A fire that ravaged a home on Vista Circle off of Grandview Drive in Millbrook this morning appears to be electrical, and accidental in nature.

Millbrook Fire Marshall Doyle Campbell says that the initial investigation points to that particular issue. The initial call for help came at 8:54 this morning with a report of the home engulfed in smoke and flames, and possibly people inside.

Fortunately, no one was home at the time of the call, but two animals inside did succumb to the smoke, Campbell said.

Firefighters arrived soon after the call for help. Several firefighters entered the burning brick home with protective gear, while others fought the exterior blaze.

The interior of the home appears to be a total loss, but Campbell said he is just very happy there is no loss of human life. “I have been in this business for 37 years, and any time you have a fire where no humans are injured, it is a good day. But we never like to see family pets taken.”

Firefighters were able to beat down the flames and it was under control in about 12 minutes. “We have a small paid staff, but some great volunteers as well,” Campbell said. “We are thankful for all of them.”
