Prattville Council moves forward with sidewalk improvements, Prattville outdoor event venue

The bitter cold temperatures held strong as the Prattville City Council held their regular meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday evening. The council adopted numerous resolutions for construction within the Prattville community moving forward.

Two sidewalk improvement resolutions were adopted in conjunction with the Alabama Department of Transportation for sidewalk improvements along Old Ridge Road, Old Farm Lane and Boardroom Drive.

Seven bids were received for this project and the Smitherman Brothers Construction Company, Inc. was selected as the lowest responsible bidder and will begin in February.

The Prattville engineering department has expressed the need for construction engineering and inspection services. Civil Southeast, LLC has been selected for for Old Ridge Road, Old Farm Lane and Boardroom Drive.

The council also adopted a resolution for PWBA Architects to spearhead the architectural and engineering services for the project at 124 W. Main Street for the renovation of the Hancock Whitney Bank.

The plans reported before show the venue will contain a covered stage for live performances, a covered seating area, a multi-use pavilion, a large screen for shows, movies or sporting events as well as a multi-use large space with lighting and a sound system. 

The last item on the agenda was securing that the City of Prattville is to host the Alabama Bass Trail Tournament Series Divisional on May 11, 2024.

This is a budgeted expense in the Parks and Recreation Department for the City of Prattville.

All above sidewalks and the Hancock Whitney Bank project are all expenses budgeted for in the Capital Projects Fund.
