Death Investigation begins after Montgomery inmate Dies in Custody

MONTGOMERY COUNTY – On Thursday, Dec. 21, at the request of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Special Agents with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) launched an in‐custody death investigation concerning an inmate at the Montgomery County Detention Facility. The inmate, identified as 40-year-old Mauryce Jackson, was pronounced deceased at the Detention Facility at approximately 10:39 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 21.
Nothing further is available as the investigation is ongoing. Once complete, the findings will be turned over to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office.
