On Tuesday afternoon, Prattville High School Softball hosted National Signing Day at the indoor facility next to the baseball field. Four Prattville softball players signed scholarships.

Zaria and Zandi Bozeman signed with Xavier University in Louisiana.

“Zaria and Zandi transferred to Prattville last year from Wetumpka,” said Head Coach Brian Pittman. “Zaria stepped in and helped at 2nd base for us last year, and she had a big bat. Zandi is a senior outfielder that played different positions for us in the outfield last year. We expect big things out of her this season.”

The Bozeman twins both explained that new Xavier Head Coach Kaylee Anderson is a big reason they signed with the school, and the fact that they will have their twin sister there will only help their comfort level.

“The campus felt like home,” said Zaria Bozeman. “Everyone was close, and the coaching staff was great. They needed a 2nd baseman so I think I can step in and help. I plan to major in Dentistry.”

“The history and welcoming atmosphere made it easy to choose Xavier,” said Zandi Bozeman. “I fell in love with Coach Anderson. I want to stay focused when I get to school, help the team, and go into the Pre-Med program.”

Xavier University in Louisiana is an HBCU (Historically Black College and University) that is recognized as a national leader in STEM and health sciences. Xavier produces more African American students who graduate from medical schools each year than any other university in the United States.

Kaylee Robles signed with Anderson University in South Carolina

“Kaylee has been with us for three years,’ said Head Coach Pittman. “On day one I told her she was moving from 2nd base to shortstop, and she has been very solid for us ever since. She was the Offensive MVP in 10th grade, and she was in the North/South All Star softball game this summer.”

Robles explained what caused her to choose Anderson. “I went to Anderson University on October 28 and fell in love with the town and the school. I committed on the visit before leaving South Carolina.”

Anderson University is a private Christian university located in Anderson, South Carolina. In 2022, the US News and World Report ranked Anderson University #44 among regional universities in the south, and it was also named to the publications Best Undergraduate Teaching (#15) and Best Value (#29).

Kaia Eaton signed with Stillman College out of Tuscaloosa.

“Kaia comes to us transferred from Selma,” Pittman said. “We’re very excited about what she brings to the table with her speed and athleticism.”

Eaton explained that her personal pitching coach, Krystal Lawson, from Elite Pitching Academy, assisted in connecting Eaton with the coaching staff at Stillman College. “I love Tuscaloosa, and the city life there,” Eaton said. “I know a lot of people that live there. I have a lot of friends and that will help. My goal at Stillman is to keep my grades up and do whatever the team needs me to do to be successful.”

Stillman College is an HBCU, private four-year university, founded in 1876 and located on 105 acres in West Tuscaloosa.
