Dear Fellow Elmore County Residents,

It has been an honor and privilege to represent District 1 by serving as your County Commissioner for the last three years.  Today, I am announcing my candidacy for re-election as Commissioner of Elmore County District 1.  I eagerly look forward to serving a 2nd term and continuing to work for and with concerned stakeholders of Elmore County District I and Elmore County as a whole.

During the three years of my first term, I facilitated a smooth transition for waste-management services, organized, implemented, and participated in Fall and Spring trash pick-up days which helped create pride as individuals, communities, and organizations pulled together for a cleaner Elmore County.  I worked with concerned stakeholders to increase the level of pay for Elmore County employees which is necessary to retain current and attract future employees.  I helped develop and implement the plans for the Quality of Life projects for all residents of Elmore County which includes parks, ballparks, and sports facilities.  I collaborated with school leaders and supported Elmore County Schools in District 1 and as a whole with various projects for the betterment of our schools and children.  Being over the Elmore County infrastructure, I collaborated with and listened to the Elmore County Highway Department, commissioners, and residents to utilize Build Back Better Highway Dollars in order to improve roadways.

Support, votes, and trust of residents, my background, and my experiences have afforded me the opportunity to serve as District I Elmore Commissioner.  Having been born and raised in Elmore County, I have taken pride in and proven myself by serving in a leadership role as Commissioner where my father, Henry Hines Sr., worked and served as a laborer for many years.  I have been blessed to have the support of my wife, Mary, for 50 plus years and our family.

We attend and serve as members of Union Congregational Christian Church.  I retired from Southern Pipe and Supply as a regional sales manager, served in the United States Air Force Reserves, served as an area representative for the Lake Jordan HOBO (Home Owners and Boat Owners Association), and served to on the Alabaster City Council before moving back to Elmore County, a place I have always called home. Since serving as your District I Commissioner, I am now actively serving as a member of the CARPDC (Central Alabama Regional Planning and Development Commission), MPO (Metropolitan Planning Organization), and the CAAC (Central Alabama Aging Consortium).

As I prepare for the next step by serving another term, your vote and support will be much appreciated and necessary, as we continue working together as a “TEAM” (together everyone achieves more) which is necessary for Elmore County District I and Elmore County as a whole to consistently continue moving forward in a positive direction.  I look forward to actively fostering, maintaining, and building relationships with, listening to, and serving the residents, business owners, communities, organizations, Elmore County employees, and professionals.
