First Methodist Church of Wetumpka held their annual Fall Festival on Wednesday, October 25.  An estimated 300 people gathered on the front lawn of the church from 5 -7 p.m. to enjoy hot dogs, chips, candy, and games. It’s unclear whether the adults or the kids enjoyed the two main attractions more, which were Sno Biz and train rides!

Families had a blast participating in several games, including Cake Walk, Go Fish, Face Painting, and Putt Putt Golf.  The event was open to the community and there were several first-time visitors who enjoyed the festivities. Hope Sanders, who handed out food said, “I really enjoyed seeing our church serving together in our community and all the joy that was evident in everyone participating and serving!”  Door prizes were given to two different families whose names were drawn from the registration booth. Prizes included baskets with gift certificates to Frios and lots of candy.

The event is headed up every year by the children’s pastor, Michelle Abernathy, and youth pastor Jamie Farquhar.

“This is an awesome community event that we love putting on every year.  Our goal is to show the people in our community God’s love while providing a fun, safe environment. We are so grateful to all of our wonderful volunteers who made our Fall Festival a success. A big thank you to Sno Biz for coming out to our event. We are excited to see everybody again next year,” Abernathy said.
