FROM THE GERRICK WILKINS CAMPAIGN

Hoover AL/October 5, 2023 – Prominent Alabama businessman and Republican Gerrick Wilkins announces that he will be running for Alabama’s 6th Congressional District. Wilkins pledged, if elected, to be a true conservative and bring Alabama solutions and values to the U.S. House. He noted that America is at a crossroads needing a strong conservative vision to change the nation’s current trajectory and that he will be able to bring that vision to the House. Wilkins is running as a solid fiscal conservative advocating a Balanced Budget Amendment and a true reformer calling for congressional term limits. He observed that far too many serving in Congress, including the incumbent, have used their position to gain influence and do not serve as citizen politicians that the founding fathers intended. Wilkins calls for abolishing the federal Department of Education, with its duties returned to the states and local communities where education belongs. He pledges to fight against the woke indoctrination seen nationally in public schools and is a staunch advocate for parental rights and school choice.

“It is with humility and responsibility that I enter the race for Alabama’s 6th District,” said Gerrick Wilkins. “In 1964, Ronald Reagan said that our nation had reached a time of choosing. If that was true then, it is especially true today.

“Daily, we see the dysfunction in Washington D.C., where career politicians have made the halls of Congress a lobbyist’s paradise,” continued Wilkins. “This must end. That is why I support term limits for Congress and will work tirelessly to see it enacted. Only with term limits will we be able to drain the swamp.

“Economically, the failed policies of Joe Biden and career politicians are bankrupting our nation and future. This must end. That is why I am supporting a Balanced Budget Amendment. If families must balance their budget, so must the federal government,” continued Wilkins.

“Education is supposed to unlock the potential of every child and put them on the path to a great future. Sadly, our education system has become an indoctrination center for the far left and its woke agenda. That is why we must abolish the federal Department of Education, return education to the states and  local communities, and allow parental choice in education decisions,” stated Wilkins.

“Together, we can bring common sense Alabama values and solutions to Congress,” concluded Wilkins. “I  pledge to be the representative of the 6th District in Congress and not of D.C. insiders.”

About Gerrick Wilkins

After witnessing the failed policies of career politicians, the overreach of government regulations, the increased tax burden on small businesses, and the attacks on the family by the left, Gerrick Wilkins decided to take up the banner and run for Congress to represent Alabama as a servant leader. Gerrick is committed to serving a maximum of three terms in office to help restore our founding father’s vision of a  citizen legislature.

Gerrick Wilkins took to heart the quote from President Ronald Reagan, “We can’t help everyone, but everyone can help someone.” This quote encouraged Gerrick to get involved in his local church, serve as  a deacon and lay leader, engage in mission work locally and globally, and work with Gideons  International. Gerrick is a principled man of faith and is a Christian who loves the Lord. His faith and family encouraged him to pursue a calling to this period of public service. Over the years, he has committed significant time and personal resources to missions and philanthropic work to help his community in Alabama and worldwide. Gerrick also serves on several local advisory boards, including one for Mission Increase and Samford University’s Brock School of Business.

Gerrick knows it is only by the blessings of God that our country has enjoyed bountiful prosperity. Gerrick will work hard to combat the leftist woke agenda attacking our religious freedoms and families. Because of his success in business, Gerrick and his wife, Carol, are privileged to give hundreds of thousands of dollars to churches, various charities, mission organizations, and educational programs through private donations.

Gerrick is a loving husband to his wife of 24 years, Carol, and a devoted father to their daughter, Hanna.

Gerrick and his family moved to Alabama in 2006 and have lived in Vestavia Hills since 2014. He attended   Pensacola Christian College, where he met his wife and earned a bachelor’s degree in theology from Liberty University. Gerrick has been a strong proponent of lifelong learning, and during his professional career, he returned and earned a master’s in business administration from Samford University.

From a young age, Gerrick has been interested in how our country is governed, working on several local campaigns while in high school. After working to build a successful career, Gerrick is disheartened with the direction of our nation. He is writing a book on congressional term limits and the problem of career politicians.

Gerrick is an American business leader with over 24 years of private sector experience in the automotive industry. His experience managing large-scale dealerships and helping other community-based dealers grow has allowed him to succeed and achieve the American dream. During his tme managing  dealerships in Alabama, Gerrick has learned firsthand of the constant heartaches small businesses must  contend with from overregulation and excessive tax policies. Gerrick’s real-world experience allows him to understand business owners’ daily challenges.

Gerrick believes we need citizens to stand up and say, “We don’t want career politicians anymore. We want citizen lawmakers.” It is time for us to end the cycle of corruption that persists from lifelong careers in government. Our country needs a change now.
